The air handler is the indoor component of a cooling and heating system. It works in tandem with an outdoor unit, such as an air conditioner or heat pump, to circulate cool or warm air throughout your home.

Be Eco-Conscious

Whirlpool® air handlers are designed to work with both the new, environmentally friendly R410A refrigerant and the old R22 refrigerant. When purchasing a new cooling and heating system, be sure to ask your dealer what type of refrigerant the system uses. Whirlpool Gold® air conditioners and heat pumps are available with the new, environmentally friendly R410A refrigerant. This chlorine-free refrigerant is better for the environment and transfers heat more efficiently.

Note: Within the next few years, manufacturers will no longer be able to use the old R22 refrigerant, so servicing a system containing the old refrigerant will become more expensive.
